"Say Six for South Florida, Say Six!"

That jingle used to be all over the South Florida airwaves, and was probably heard hundreds of times a day in the WCIX newsroom, where I worked for nearly two decades. Before the move to Doral, before the takeover by CBS, and before the channel swap from 6 to 4, we were an independent station, doing one 10 O'Clock newscast a night. We had low expectations and even lower ratings, but we had more fun than anyone else in town. It is to that fun spirit that I dedicate this blog.

YOUR COMMENTS ARE WELCOMED! I'd love to hear from any former WCIX staffers, especially those who were there during my time at the station (which began in March 1980). For the most part, this will be a positive blog. While I might get critical of some of our on-air talent, it is not my intention to bash anybody. I hate what TV news has become and will never return to my former profession, but I have mostly great memories of my time at Channel 6. I hope others will have a good time sharing memories of their own. Jeff
